A seriously excellent article that should speak to all managers and really, all people. We DO need to be warriors and we do need a variety of skills but we also need to focus on human kindness and decency to others. Ah, if only the fascists would better understand the possibilities of the world for ALL the people... We can hope.

There's definitely a place for both skill sets - the even and uneven tiles.

You produce really great stuff, Erik. Thanks for what you do.

And one wonders how the "landscape of leadership" will play out over the next few years. We had HUGE possibilities to change the way of the workplaces with COVID, giving people some distance from their (sometimes toxic) managers and driving the need to manage people and performance differently. We did make some improvements but not nearly what was possible.

Now, things move toward a permanently hybrid kind of working world for so many people, one that requires much more engagement and collaboration. Some managers get it and are adapting, while some seem to think that the old autocratic style will continue to work.

We most definitely need more of the kind and supportive environments, I think. We can all make better choices.
